May no possums caution their ugly selves
along the top of your backyard fence,
just out of reach.

No foxes slip in after dark
to drink your water bowl dry.

No skunks declare their stinky selves.

No cats yowl
in the alley.

And that Great Horned Owl in the top of the
sixty-foot pecan tree keep his wings tucked
for the night.
