the city underpass,
packing-crate home
what family tucked
in the suburbs
ever dreamed of,
or imagined a baby
swaddled in newspaper,
his mother having
just given birth
and suckled the child,
the man she calls husband
whispering the name
revealed in dream,
the name above every name,
like any other newborn’s.
