“The Starry Night”

swirls the walls, floor, and ceiling
of this space emptied of all encumbrances

to bodies compelled to motion,
the soundtrack of dance

to the blood beat of gotta spin,
leap, pounce from star to star,

a dervish of blue and white
and luna-yellow projections

of Crazy Vincent’s joy-dance
palette compelling patrons

to reach out to touch
the untouchable, accept

the invitation to enter the floor,
let there be light and

the madness of colors,
a child leading.

“Your senses lay the foundation for
how and why the arts and aesthetics offer
the perfect path to amplify your health
and well-being.”

Your Brain on Art: How the Arts
Transform Us, Random House, 2023, p. 8.)
