When It Comes. Maundy Thursday

on
Geraldine Dukes

There are moments too dear
to transcend the Mystery
of why this and not that
or the Other, how a body
in motion can mend
the air, the pliable
molecules of a new way
of seeing and being seen
tender as the hands
of lovers cupping water
from a forest spring,
this needful memory
easing between their fingers.
