“the sprawlers’ revelry is over”
(Amos 6: 7, The Jerusalem Bible)
On those who live in the land of the shadow of death,
a light has shown. (Isaiah 9: 2)

I will put Peace in as magistrate,
and Integrity as the government.
Violence will no longer be heard of in your country,
nor devastation and ruin within your frontiers.
(Isaiah 60: 17, 18)

This is what the Lord God Yahweh requires of you,
only this: to act justly,
to love tenderly
and to walk humbly with your God.
(Micah 6: 8)

The greatest among you must be your servant.
Anyone who exalts himself will be humbled,
and anyone who humbles himself will be exalted.
(Matthew 23: 11-12)

The Peace Prayer of Saint Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
