My Prayer* (Tuesday, November 3, 2020)

In this time of Coronavirus, COVID-19,
with over 9.3 million cases
reported in the United States,
and at least 231,470 persons dead,**

May we,
in a spirit of wisdom
and insight
(Isaiah 11: 2)

Put peace in as magistrate,
integrity as the government
(Isaiah 60: 17)

Repress the clamor of the proud,
Subdue, like heat by the shadow
of a cloud, the calumny of despots
(Isaiah 25: 5)

Comfort all those who mourn,
Give them for ashes a garland,
for mourning robe the oil of gladness,
for despondency, praise
(Isaiah 61: 3)

Let justice flow like water,
integrity like an unfailing stream.
(Amos 5: 24)

Amen. May it be so.
