“‘Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests,
but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.'”
(Matthew 8: 20, The Jerusalem Bible, Doubleday & Company, Inc, 1966)

Not homeless; unhoused.
Home is the leeward angle
of downtown buildings,

space for a peddler’s treasures
gathered in a hobo’s salvation blanket
tossed, unfurling, from an open boxcar

clicking through the railroad crossing
to alight beside an apostle of the street,
messenger, where there is despair,
of hope and peace and light.

For my friends, City Light Community Ministries.
