They come from the streets
of desert-despair, their wilderness,
shade less days, nights the cold
of trackless Space, no star

as yet, no stable of gentle beasts,
their feed trough of straw
a grateful crib for the infant
known only to his mother,

her compromised husband,
convenient father, his questionable
assurance–angel in his sleep.
And those ragtag shepherds’ homage,

recognition of one of their own
rejoicing. And three astrologers,
Magi-Sorcerers, just setting out.
And yes. Yes, that Star!
